HERAT Zack Smith Senators Jersey , Afghanistan, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- One Afghan civilian was killed along with two of his sons in a drive-by shooting in Guzara District of western Herat province on Monday, the latest in a string of targeted killings, a source said.


"Abdul Shokor Robadmirza and two of his sons were killed after two men riding a motorcycle spree bullets on them at the gate of their house at around 6:00 p.m. (local time) in Guzara District," the district governor Nisar Ahmad Popal told Xinhua.


Robadmirza was a runner for provincial council polls held on April 5. However, he failed to secure a chair in the council or provincial parliament in the province 640 km west of Kabul Tom Pyatt Senators Jersey , the source said, adding that authorities were investigating the motive behind the attack.


The attackers fled the scene shortly after they found their victims died on the spot.


The number of targeted killings has risen in recent months in the war-torn country. Earlier on the day, a teacher was shot dead in eastern Logar province, 60 km south of Kabul.
