The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index ended down 118.78 points, or 1.06 percent, to close at 11,075.11 points.


Three of the four sub-indices lost ground. The Properties and Commerce & Industry sub-indices dropped 1.02 percent and 0.48 percent respectively. The Finance slid 0.18 percent while the Utilities rose 0.37 percent.


Blue chips led the fall. CITIC Pacific Limited dropped 3.79 percent to 16.24 HK dollars. China Coal Energy Company Limited lost three percent to 4.87 HK dollars.


China Resources Land Limited was down 2.26 percent to 17.3 HK dollars. Li & Fung Limited retreated 2.13 percent 10.12 HK dollars.


Bucking the trend, China Mobile Limited gained 1.09 percent to 88.3 HK dollars as the company's expansion of its fourth- generation network and sales of Apple Inc.'s iPhone helped it add more subscribers than competitors during the first half of this year.
